  TROUBLE-SHOOT: V-PLAY (MP200)
1.
Does the V-PLAY MP4 player support any other video types apart from MTV?

No, the V-PLAY only supports native MTV format. You must use the Video Converter tool provided (or download another one of your choice from the internet) to convert video files to the MTV format before they can be played on this MP4 player.
2.
I can’t convert MPEG-4 files?

The Video Converter tool supplied recognises the following file types: AVI, MPG, etc. Other video file types, like for instance MPEG-4, may need to be first converted. We recommend converting such file types to the popular AVI format. You can find the Video Converter tool on the CD-ROM supplied with the V-PLAY.
3.
What are the system requirements of the Video Converter tool?

The Video Converter tool supplied with the V-PLAY is compatible with most Windows operating systems, although not yet with Windows Vista. It is fully compatible with Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98 and 98SE though. In addition to running a compatible operating system on your computer, you must have DirectX 9.0 or above installed on your computer. If you haven’t got DirectX installed the Video Converter tool may not work correctly. Go to www.microsoft.com/directx to download the latest version available.
4.
My V-PLAY MP4 player seems to be turning itself off after a short period of time but still plays music…

The player has a feature called power save whereby the screen will “go black” in order to save power off the battery. The setting for this feature can be changed. To change the power save option, select Menu >> Setup >> Display >> Backlight >> then use the left/right controls to change the setting, and select the central “Play/Pause” button to save your changes.
5.
My V-PLAY MP4 player “freezes” or does not respond to any command?

The V-PLAY MP4 player software may crash due to confliction from codec failure, or from disconnecting the device from the computer without “safely removing”. It is also recommended that users don’t press the control buttons too rapidly, but allow for the player to register each command. The most likely solution to this problem is to simply reset the player. The player should restart once the reset process is done.
6.
How do I reset the device?

Firstly, remove all the cables from the device including the earphones. Make sure the Hold button is off and the player’s controls are unlocked. You can see the word “RESET” printed on the side of the device >> insert a long object like for instance a paper clip into the “RESET” hole >> hold down for about 5 seconds >> remove the paper clip from the “RESET” hole >> wait for another 5 seconds before switching the device on via the Play button as per normal.
7. What differences are there between the 2 USB modes, MSC and MTP?

The V-PLAY MP4 player utilises 2 USB modes: MSC (‘music’) and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol).
You can set which USB mode your player is set in from the Set-Up menu (USB Mode option), or directly on the player when connected to a USB port.
To switch from MSC to MTP USB mode while connected to a USB port, simply hold the M button for a few seconds, then release.
The MTP mode is used to synch music files only with applications such as Windows Media Player. You cannot transfer JPEG, TXT, MTV, etc. files in this mode.
The MSC mode is used to transfer any types of files onto your V-PLAY.
8. I have problems transferring digital images (JPEG) files onto my V-PLAY?

Digital images in the JPEG format can be viewed on the V-PLAY.
To transfer your digital photos onto the V-PLAY you must first make sure that the player is set in the MSC USB mode. If your player is set to the MTP USB mode, it cannot accept files other than music files (MP3 or WMA). To switch to the MSC USB mode, press for a few seconds the M button, then release. The player should switch USB mode automatically.
9. What is the maximum size for the micro-SD memory card that the V-PLAY supports?

The V-PLAY MP4 player features an expansion slot for users who would like to increase the player’s memory. The player supports micro-SD cards of up to 2 GB in size. So if you own the 1 GB version, you could have up to 3Gb of memory available, and up to 4Gb available with the 2Gb version of the player.
10. How can I play files saved on my micro-SD memory card?

Once the micro-SD card has been inserted correctly into the expansion slot of the V-PLAY, the correct memory drive for the player must be selected. Follow these simple steps:
Press and hold the M button to go to the Main Menu >> navigate down to Set-Up >> confirm your selection (Set-Up) by pressing the central button (Play) >> scroll down to the Storage option >> confirm your selection (Storage) by pressing the central button >> scroll down to the Micro-SD/T-Flash option >> confirm your selection by pressing the central button >> exit the Set-Up menu by pressing and holding the M button for a few seconds.
To reverse back to the player’s internal memory, follow the same steps but select the Internal (memory) option (set as default).
11. How can I change the language setting of my V-PLAY?

The interface of the V-PLAY MP4 player can let users choose the language displayed on screen when using the V-PLAY. There are 12 different languages available for the On-Screen Display, they are:
English, traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Czech, Slovak. To change the language setting, simply follow these steps:
